energy & meteo systems obtains ISO 27001 certification
PriceWaterhouseCoopers certifies Oldenburg energy service provider in IT security.
Good news for customers of the software developer energy & meteo systems with critical infrastructure. The company, which specializes in the integration of renewable energies into power trading and electricity grids, obtained its certification according to ISO/IEC 27001:2017 from PwC Certification Services GmbH in Berlin. This internationally recognized security standard certificate, itself preceded by a meticulous audit by Pricewaterhouse Coopers, provides a guarantee that the company from Oldenburg has achieved a high level of security. For many customers from the energy sector, this represents a great simplification when cooperating with energy & meteo systems, especially after the ordinance towards the determination of critical infrastructure according to the BSI-Act (BSI-KritisV), and once again confirms its reliable partnership.
Information security management system successfully introduced
As part of the certification and in a complex process, the prediction and energy management service provider constructed and introduced an information security management system (ISMS). This contains many rules and procedures which serve to monitor, control and continually improve information security. It comprises the conduction of risk analyses, the fulfillment and internal checks regarding availability, integrity and confidentiality as well as the complete documentation of any measures and procedures introduced. Certification in information security management was awarded for the development, hosting, and operation of the "virtual power plant" application as well as for the development and operation of the application "prediction system".
"Especially in regards to the sensitive energy sector, IT security has always been essential and had the highest priority. The introduction of the ISMS was therefore a logical consequence, providing an official attestation to our competency in information management and securing the trust of employees and customers alike.", explains Dr. Matthias Lange, Managing Director of energy & meteo systems. With its services and software, the international provider of power predictions and virtual power plants decisively contributes to an efficient integration of renewable energies into power grids and markets.
This is reason enough to now have PricewaterhouseCoopers annually check the effectiveness of all IT security processes along with the standard conformity to ISO/IEC 27001. In doing so, energy & meteo systems guarantees the effectiveness and efficiency of its management system and fulfills the demands of its customers requiring the highest level of information security.
