Promoting young talent
Second 'Maustag' at emsys
Despite it being a national holiday, our company was very busy last Thursday. For the second time, we took part in the ‘Door Opener’ day of the popular German children's TV show ‘Die Sendung mit der Maus’ and opened our doors (and slides) to children aged 6 to 12. Twenty-five curious children (and a few parents) were able to learn exciting things about renewable energies and conduct experiments to generate electricity from wind and sunlight themselves.
Outside, we set up circuits of solar cells and fans, and thanks to the sunny weather, the fans were kept very busy. After using dynamos to demonstrate how electricity is generated from rotation, we also set up small wind turbines and distributed them. This briefly created our own small wind farm in our garden, but unfortunately it only generated a small amount of electricity due to the low wind.
However, this enabled us to explain why the weather plays such a major role in renewable energies and what we actually do as a company. We all had a lot of fun that day and the children went home happy and a little bit wiser.
